PERWI

After the AGM that was held on the third day of the Eid (5 Nov 2005). The Chairman elect efficiently called for a meeting in his residence. Prior to the meeting there was a consensus to form a society duly registered with the Malaysian Registrar of Society, RoS. More business like entity like a Coop was already ruled out for this immediately friendly-family association. Foundation or Yayasan is not tenable because of the present financial position of the entity. a the stringent requirement of the law.

However a ‘Foundation’ is keep in view for the future - a separate entity may be registered once the society has reach the desire financial standing. The formation of a Coop on the other hand, will be evaluated once a situation warrants it for business purposes. Coop may be needed as a business arm of the society, revenue generating and a source of employment and a basis for self employment.

The first and subsequent committee meetings were about forming the Society. All procedures, standard practices and RoS standard constitution were the framework of the discussions. Followed by discussions within the family e-group regulars. All necessary steps were taken to follow the procedures of the RoS including taking the minutes of meeting of the pro-tem committee. Almost all elected committee members in the Teratap Memori on that occasion duped as “Gege Rayo di Teratap Memori” or “Eid Noises @ Teratap Memori,” and a few who were recoup later formed the pro-tem committee.

A submittal to the RoS was done and the agreed name of the Society was PERWI an acronym for Pertubuhan Kebajikan Keluarga Haji Wan Ishak or The Welfare Organisation of Haji Wan Ishak’s Family – well that literal translation does not, quite, brings out the same connotation. Had we been colonized by the Spaniards, wiwa (pronounce viva) would have crossed our minds, an acronym, meaning wan ishak welfare association. PERWI it was - sounds good, short and simple.

PERWI was issued a birth certificate on the 1^st of August 2006 by the RoS. That marked the day taking YAHWI out of Beta and in its place taken over by a permanent version PERWI, duly trademarked. A launching Dinner was held at the Bangi Golf Club, quite a pompous and a happy occasion.

The beginning of the second beginning!

They had a resolution and subsequently as an extension to the benevolent moves of the previous generation the second generation of “YAHWI” complied to the Law of the Land registered a society called “PERWI” due to technicalities they were not able to keep the name “YAHWI”.

The Registration of Society, RoS Malaysia had approved the registration on the 1 of August and on the 19 of August 2006 an official launching dinner was held at Banggi Golf Club attended by some 170 descendants’ of all ages from all over Malaysia .

In the beginning.

It was probably in the first Quarter of 1976 when the sons and in-laws of the late Hj. Wan Ishak sat and come up with “YAHWI” with a view of forming a Yayasan Hj. Wan Ishak (Foundation). Their focus then was to ensure that their next generation excel in education .
