THINKING OUT LOUD

A couple of years ago I had set up a wifi system around my house but it was down, I am thinking of making another one and I am going to name it "wifi republic".

I am going to re-organize my blogs too, now I am testing some templates, trying and testing them at this stage. I am trying to fully utilized the latest blogspot editor. Not doubt that they are better with many needs that are taken care of. However the new blogspot editor lack fluidity where we can used different blog templates for different categories of posts or entries.

However I had thought of this new format. Try
anak matlesen to see the new format. The present PERWI is slightly messy as I had attempted to master the new blogspot editor. I think by doing that I had taken extra "memories".

I am still in the learning curve and I may not proceed with the present idea for I have to evaluate either to follow the existing system that blogspot new editor provide or do the necessary such as amending the html on the free template that I had obtained satisfactorily to get a system that I want.

Jewish judge to lead UN Gaza war probe

Fri, 03 Apr 2009 18:16:04 GMT | PressTV

Former international prosecutor Richard Goldstone

Ex-prosecutor Richard Goldstone has been appointed to lead investigations into Israel's "grave war crimes" during its 23-day war against Gaza.

President of the UN Human Rights Council Martin Uhomoibhi on Friday announced the choice and explained that the mission would look into all violations, not only those committed during the military incursion in the Palestinian coastal enclave in December and January.

UN to hush up report on Israel conduct?

Fri, 03 Apr 2009 11:40:34 GMT

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon may not release the findings of a report he ordered into the Israeli war on Gaza, Press TV has learned.

In Thursday, a spokesperson for Ban cast doubt on whether a report ordered into the three weeks of Israeli military operations in Gaza was meant for public use.

"No. As I said, (the secretary general) is going to first examine the report and decide what to do about it then. This is a report directed to him," said spokeswoman Michele Montas, answering a question posed by a Press TV correspondent.

Malaysia: Human rights agenda for new government

PUBLIC STATEMENT
AI Index: ASA 28/002/2009

2 April 2009

Malaysia: Human rights agenda for new government

As Najib Tun Razak prepares to take over as Prime Minister of Malaysia, Amnesty International said that the new administration faces major human rights challenges that need to be addressed.

The organization is calling on the new Prime Minister to initiate urgent reforms to the justice system in five key areas, as follows.

DON'T TAKE US FOR FOOLS!....ALTHOUGH SOME OF US CAN BE FOOLED.

Driving back from two afternoon ceremah's in Bukit Gantang, I get an sms that the new PM is magnanimously releasing 13 from Kem Kamunting.

Collecting my thoughts, I told myself that if Najib does not release Mat Shah Mohd Satray amongst the 13, this PM is a capital sham....thinking that he can fool us. I immediately rang Laila (photo), Mat Shah's wife. Even before I could question her she said, "Uncle Zorro, Mat Shah is not on the list." I do not wish to publish our conversation except to say that as expected this was a shallow attempt at damage control. If the PM was a man of stature, he would not treat us as fools, thinking that we will be so impressed that we will burn incense to his image! I know that there will be some out there who will burn this incense to his honor.[more]

'US economic plan, road to hell'

Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek

Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek says that Washington's plans to fight the global economic crisis are "the way to hell."

"The path the United States has chosen is historically discredited," the head of the European Union told the European Parliament on Wednesday, advising Americans to "read dusty history books" so as to avoid repeating "the errors of the 1930s" and the Great Depression.

Too rich for Bukit Gantang

IF you have it, flaunt it. But no, sirs. Not in Bukit Gantang, Perak.

Several Umno members who had just returned to Kuala Lumpur from the durian land, are cheesed off that Barisan Nasional members are making their rounds there in luxury cars and expensive attire.

The group said these campaigners had not learnt from past by-elections.

“Moving around in big luxury cars, wearing expensive attire but talking about daily survival of kampung folks in a semi-urban surrounding doesn’t quite give the right impression about BN,” one of them said.

Kedah PPP to defect to PKR?

The big announcement that PKR strategist Saifuddin Nasution has promised Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will announce on Saturday probably concerns the defection of the “entire Kedah PPP” to PKR.

The defection, if it takes place, could have a significant impact on the outcome of the closely fought Bukit Selambau by-election.

PPP sources said the defection is being organised and led by former Kedah PPP chairman and incumbent PPP vice-president Datuk V. Nadarajah who when contacted declined to comment.

Anwar to spring big surprise ‘related to Najib’ tomorrow

PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is back in town and promises a big announcement in his ceramah tomorrow night that "is directly or indirectly related to Najib".

Strategist Saifuddin Nasution told reporters this when quizzed over whether the "surprise announcement" would be on defections from Barisan Nasional.

The Machang MP's statement is consistent with the amount of pressure Pakatan Rakyat has been heaping on newly-installed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

PM Najib’s Cronies and their Related Companies

Everyone knows whenever there’s a change to the premiership not only political landscape changes but also the stock-market landscape. When Mahathir called it a day in 2003 almost immediately his cronies listed companies were affected. The same goes to Badawi although his departure doesn’t have the same impact due to his short-term in office. And now with Najib Razak as the new Prime Minister naturally his cronies or rather those who are closely linked to him are instantly on investors or punters’ radar. Malaysia politics and business model is rather unique because you will see both scratching each other for survival and prosperity. This is something that foreign investors found rather hard though amuse to accept or understand, not to mention frustration due to escalating in business operating costs. [more]

Hindraf - Press Statement in Support of PAKATAN in Bkt Selambau & Bkt Gantang

1. HINDRAF acknowledges that our grass root supporters are disappointed that the Bukit Selambau seat was not offered to any of the 5 short listed candidates (two of whom were HINDRAF coordinators and remaining 3 were reputable KEADILAN local leaders) and urge our supporters to remain focussed and calm.

2. I had spoken to HINDRAF National Coordinator RS Tanendran and he confirms that most of his statements had been taken out of context and manipulated by the government run media to portray that HINDRAF does not support PAKATAN to create confusion and anxiety amongst supporters.

Newstopia explains the Reserve Bank -Comedy

UPDATE 2009-01-13: 50,000 views! Thanks to everyone for their contributions.

UPDATE: The day this video got picked up by a couple of left-wing blogs in the USA and Canada was, coincidentally enough, my birthday. I can't give enough thanks to everyone who has enjoyed the video so far. Spread the word!

"Shaun Micallef" (Shaun Micallef) and "Tony Froth" (Nicholas Bell) explain the role of the Reserve Bank of Australia and how to control inflation.

This was taken from the TV show "Newstopia" (Season 2, Episode 3, aired 12 March 2008). I'm uploading this to celebrate the launch of the third season of the show. This is one of my favourite moments from the second season.

I don't own the copyright to this - it belongs to the Australian TV channel, SBS. That said, there is plenty of Newstopia material on YouTube already, including an incomplete version of this material. In any case, I personally think the show deserves all the publicity it can get.

Open letter to Najib

Dear Sir,

I pray that this letter finds you in good health. With that good health, I do hope you will find in your good self some appetite and some time to read these words of mine.

I am sure in the past months and even more so in the previous weeks, you have read and listened to aspirations of many Malaysians from all over. I am also sure many of these aspirations do not coincide with each other and some even contradict with each other. I appreciate this fact and I can imagine your exasperation of the word better amid a sea of competing ideals. Everybody has his or her own context when using that superlative that if it is to stand on its own, it will be ultimately vague.

Perhaps you do understand why there are contradictory dreams. But if you do not, this is the reason of why I am writing this humble letter to you. I would like to assure you that those contradictions are not signs of confusion or a sign of danger. Rather, very positively, it is only a sign of how diverse our society is.[ more ]

President Obama: 30 days left to meet AI human rights challenge

In November 2008 we urged President-elect Barack Obama, in his first 100 days in office, to take concrete steps to counter terror with justice. With 30 days to go, the record is mixed – we need another push.

By signing executive orders to close Guantánamo, suspend military commission trials, and taking substantial steps towards ending the CIA’s use of secret detention and torture, President Obama has made important moves in the right direction.

Nevertheless, in the first two months of the new administration only one Guantánamo detainee was released, and none was charged for trial in federal court, although the one “enemy combatant” held on the US mainland was. At the same time, the new administration has claimed broad authority to continue to hold detainees in the context of what, like its predecessor, it appears to regard as a global “war”.

Also, despite mounting evidence that torture and enforced disappearance were authorized and carried out by the USA over the past seven years, the new administration has not yet moved to support the establishment of an independent commission of inquiry and no criminal investigations have been initiated.[more]
