THINKING OUT LOUD

A couple of years ago I had set up a wifi system around my house but it was down, I am thinking of making another one and I am going to name it "wifi republic".

I am going to re-organize my blogs too, now I am testing some templates, trying and testing them at this stage. I am trying to fully utilized the latest blogspot editor. Not doubt that they are better with many needs that are taken care of. However the new blogspot editor lack fluidity where we can used different blog templates for different categories of posts or entries.

However I had thought of this new format. Try
anak matlesen to see the new format. The present PERWI is slightly messy as I had attempted to master the new blogspot editor. I think by doing that I had taken extra "memories".

I am still in the learning curve and I may not proceed with the present idea for I have to evaluate either to follow the existing system that blogspot new editor provide or do the necessary such as amending the html on the free template that I had obtained satisfactorily to get a system that I want.

17 Released from Kamunting Detention Camp

GMI Statement :

GMI welcomes the release of the seventeen  as they have not been proven guilty by any open court in Malaysia . We believe that the release of the detainees is the result of the persistent and continuous campaigns to demand for the abolition of the ISA.  Furthermore the release of three 6-year detainees Yazid Bin Suffat, Sulaiman Bin Suramin and Abdul Murad Bin Sudin  from the ISA is a victory for the recently-launched campaign, “Free 6-year ISA detainees”, which is one of the main factors that catalyzed the process of their release.

What is in store for Somalia in 2009?

Egypt and the Arab league fears the sinking in revenue from the Suez Canal because of increasing piracy amidst the global economic downturn.

The UN says militants get weapons from the deserters
More than 80% of Somalia's soldiers and police - about 15,000 members - have deserted, some taking weapons, uniforms and vehicles, the UN says.

The head of the UN monitoring group on Somalia, Dumisani Kumalo, said Islamist insurgents got many of their weapons and ammunition from the deserters.

In the UN report, Mr Kumalo, the South African ambassador, also said most of the Somali government's security budget - supposedly 70% of its total budget - disappeared through corruption.

Recent history and experiences of Somalia has proven that both the UN and the TFG is not dependable. Somalis cannot count on them, they are part of the problem. . . [ read more ]

Abdullah’s reform Bills criticised

MPs described the Bills as hype and half-measures that will not make a substantial difference.

. . . to set up a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. . . . the Bills are an attempt to seek a compromise that will please neither the reformists nor those in the BN. While the Attorney-General's consent is still required for prosecutions,
“all hype that looks more like the same thing”. . . .a truly independent commission would have staff separate from the general civil service, and independent funding.
. . . the oversight committee comprising MPs should be set up under parliamentary rules to reflect the strength of the respective political parties in the House.
“It seems to be just another statutory board arrangement. Will MPs debate its report? If not, what's the use?”

The Bill on the Judicial Appointments Commission . . . proposes setting up a nine-man panel to make recommendations for appointments of judges to the High Court and above.
The commission, which will include four “eminent persons”, will recommend names but the PM has the final say. This was a compromise, after Umno objected to a whittling down of the PM's powers. . . [more]

Are you eligible to put those crosses on the ballot paper?

Actually, not all the 11 million registered voters came out to vote. As what happened in the 11 general elections before the 8 March 2008 general election, only about 70% of the registered voters came out to vote. The balance 30% stayed home, as they had done since two years before Merdeka in 1955 when we had our first (municipal) elections (the first general election was in 1959). And 12 general elections have shown that only 70% of the registered voters bother to vote. The other 30% do not care who rules Malaysia.

Then we had the 5 million eligible voters who did not even bother to register as voters. So only half the 16 million or so eligible voters actually cast their vote. 8 million Malaysians voted on 8 March 2008 and 8 million more either did not vote or did not register to vote. Half the ‘eligible’ Malaysians sought change. The other half were not concerned what happens to this country. That is the reality of the situation.

And the opposition got only 50% of the votes (which means votes from 25% of the eligible voters). But the 50% that the ruling coalition garnered (which also means votes from 25% of the eligible voters) helped them form the government in all but five states plus they managed to form the federal government with slightly under the two-thirds majority that it hoped it would get. But it still managed to form the federal government, nevertheless, with just half the votes.    .     .

Leader sends message to Hajj pilgrims

Sun, 07 Dec 2008 11:25:27 GMT

But this is still the beginning. Muslim nations still face treacherous roads ahead. One can never survive them unless one is equipped with the power of faith, sincerity, hope and jihad as well as insight and patience. This path cannot be taken with despair and pessimism, apathy and lack of spirit, impatience, lethargy and disbelief in the fulfillment of the divine promise.

The wounded enemy is now resorting to anything and will spare no effort to strike back. We need to be resourceful, wise and to take advantage of opportunities. This way all the efforts of the enemy will fail. In the last thirty years, the enemies, mostly the US and Zionism, have been utilizing all their capacities but have failed miserably. The same thing will happen in the future, too, inshallah. . . . read all.

How Washington Arrogance Helped Drive the Mumbai Attacks

Obama promised change from this destructive behavior, but how does change arise when the most arrogant woman on earth is appointed Secretary of State and the rest of the new government is staffed with tried and true Likudniks and servants of the militar-security complex?

The change over which Obama will preside will have no American victories. The change will come from America as a failed state, from the dollar dethroned as reserve currency, from America repudiated by its allies and paid puppets, from massive unemployment for which there is no solution, from hyperinflation that produces anarchy.

The day might arrive when Washington is faced with revolution at home as well as abroad.

Paul Craig Roberts was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury during the Reagan administration
