THINKING OUT LOUD

A couple of years ago I had set up a wifi system around my house but it was down, I am thinking of making another one and I am going to name it "wifi republic".

I am going to re-organize my blogs too, now I am testing some templates, trying and testing them at this stage. I am trying to fully utilized the latest blogspot editor. Not doubt that they are better with many needs that are taken care of. However the new blogspot editor lack fluidity where we can used different blog templates for different categories of posts or entries.

However I had thought of this new format. Try
anak matlesen to see the new format. The present PERWI is slightly messy as I had attempted to master the new blogspot editor. I think by doing that I had taken extra "memories".

I am still in the learning curve and I may not proceed with the present idea for I have to evaluate either to follow the existing system that blogspot new editor provide or do the necessary such as amending the html on the free template that I had obtained satisfactorily to get a system that I want.

Lebanon moving forward

1. 'Prisoner swap huge failure for Israel'

Anticipation of the swap deal between Hezbollah and Israel to materialize goes parallel with the prospect of a new cabinet to be formed soon, amid general optimism over the distribution of portfolios.

According to Hariri's Mustakbal daily, Suleiman was counting on the positive atmosphere that emerged following Sayyed Nasrallah's press conference in which he extended a hand to the pro-government camp. Al Mustaqbal quoted Hariri as telling visitors that he "cannot reject any initiative launched by President Suleiman."

2.
Lebanon 'set to announce cabinet'

Those measures were reversed and after talks led by Qatar, the two sides agreed to form a unity government, within which Hezbollah would have a blocking minority.

It would have two Hezbollah ministers, in addition to nine ministers from the group's Shia Muslim, Druze and Christian allies, sources told Reuters.

The 11 cabinet seats would be enough, under Lebanon's complex system, to block decisions in the 30-member cabinet.

The ruling coalition would have 16 ministers in the cabinet, while the remaining three would be picked by the the president.

The new unity government would be formed before Suleiman travels to France on July 12. President Michel Suleiman might skip the Mediterranean Summit in France on July 13, in case a new government was not formed.

RPK Refuses To Expose Informant On Altantuya Murder

July 06, 2008 00:49 AM

Raja Petra told reporters after giving his statement here that he was contacted by police to be present at the Sentul Police Headquarters without explaining the purpose for his presence.

He said that the police repeatedly asked about the source of the information on the involvement of the three individuals mentioned in his SD but he refused to disclose the identity of the source for security reason.

Raja Petra said the police might charge him in court for refusing to disclose the source of information, adding that he was prepared to be charged as he was confident that his source would explain the truth. . . . more

— PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BY AMERICK SINGH SIDHU —

4 July 2008, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

AMERICK SINGH SIDHU

I have been made to understand that Mr. Balasubramaniam a/l Perumal has issued a statutory declaration at a press conference held at the Prince Hotel at 11.00 am this morning, retracting his earlier statutory declaration affirmed on the 1st July 2008.

The reason given for this retraction is that his original statutory declaration, recorded by myself, was “compelled to be affirmed under duress”.

No details of this alleged compulsion and duress have been put forth. Mr. Bala is reported as not answering when asked this morning in his press conference who was it who intimidated him.

For the record, I confirm that the statutory declaration affirmed by Mr.Bala on 1st July 2008 which he released yesterday was affirmed voluntarily before a commissioner for oaths Dr. T. Yokheswarem and in my presence.

I first met Mr. Bala in the presence of a few other persons in a restaurant about two months ago where he asked me to assist with preparing a formal document incorporating some evidence that had not been presented in the ongoing Altantuya trial. I started the process about two weeks after that. I would have met him a few times where I recorded in long hand, what Mr. Bala told me. . . . full Press Release

And the winner is………..

Anwar Ibrahim - will he be the next PM?

But then this will only happen if Anwar does not pull a coup. Anwar had boldly proclaimed many times that he will form the new federal government by Malaysia Day, 16 September 2008, and that at least 30 Barisan Nasional Members of Parliament are waiting in the wings and ready to cross over. The race was on. Either Najib pushes Abdullah out before 16 September or else he will be pushing Abdullah out just to become the opposition leader in Parliament and not the Prime Minister of Malaysia. . . more

PM: Police, army exercise nothing to worry about

Malaysian Inspector General of Police

"Malaysia is safe and stable. Please don't get overexcited about what is happening. There are a lot of rumours. Please don't believe them. Don't panic, " said Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi after chairing the Northern Corridor Economic Region board's first meeting today.

On the matter of rallies, he said: "Then there is the matter of rallies... which are being done by Anwar. People join these rallies, but when the situation looks like it's getting unstable, they get scared and start selling (shares) and such. I don't understand this." . . more

Director of Military Intelligence Lt Gen Dato' Mohd Salleh Ismail
"It has been long-planned and not just because of the current situation. The police and military have not had a joint exercise for a long time. Because there are new procedures and laws regarding public order, we need to get together and see how we are to execute them. The old laws are from the 50s and now there are new procedures to handle demonstrators and public order. This is nothing to do with being worried about the current situation."

He laughed off suggestions that it was in anticipation of this Sunday's Pakatan Rakyat-backed anti-fuel hike demonstration which is aiming to see a million protestors turn up. But in explaining that it was police responsibility to handle demonstrations, Salleh seemed to be hitting home the message that the military want none of this and refuse to be implicated or involved in any of the intrigue surrounding current local politics. . . more

What have early Police interference done?

It does not matter whether we Malaysians believe PI Bala or not. Police Interference has done it. The end result has been achieved, which is to neutralize his credibility as a witness.

Bala, Najib, Razak Baginda

With his second SD of retraction, without explaining what was the “duress” which coerced him to make shocking disclosures linking Najib with Altantunya, Subramaniam has succeeded in making even those who had doubted his first SD to come around to believe it – while achieving very little effect in creating doubt among those who had believed his first SD.

Balasubramaniam’s lawyer for his first SD, Americk Singh Sidhu, told Malaysiakini that Balasubramaniam received a phone call from the police soon after his press conference yesterday to report to the Brickfields police station.

“I advised him that as a law-abiding citizen, he should go and see them. So I fetched him to the Brickfields police station at 4.45pm yesterday and I haven’t heard from him since,” he said stressing that he has failed to contact Balasubramaniam since this news broke out. . . more

Beware of "False" Perception.

Our Prime Minister has earned a reputation as "the father of announcement" (Bapa pengumuman) for the reasons being he had a habit of announcing a certain project, policies or government actions but then soon after the announcements the thing becomes a NFA (no further action).

The classical case was his announcement of 18 big sharks to be netted after the 2004 general election. The announcement then was parroted by the then Law Minister Hon. Rais Yatim. After the announcement - a big shark, the late Chairman of Pewaja was acquitted . Hon. Rais Yatim was then transferred to some ministry to take care of "cultural dancing" and "old buildings". So we had learned. . . . beware of perception, let us see the latest announcement on ACA and Judicial review - will not be another NFA.

That reminds RPK

Althatunya, the murdered Mongolian beauty.

No, Abdullah Badawi was not talking about the people named in the Statutory Declaration (read it here). He was referring to the latest sodomy allegation against Anwar Ibrahim. “He will definitely deny it. That is common for someone who has been accused." Yes, but is this common only to Anwar Ibrahim? Would not Abdullah Badawi, his son-in-law, Najib, Rosmah, Col. Aziz and Col. Norhayati not also do the ‘common’ thing and also deny what was alleged in the Statutory Declaration?

Hmm….but did not Abdullah Badawi also say last week that he believes his Deputy Prime Minister Rosmah Mansor and her husband, Najib, are innocent? Well, he said this at least as far as Rosmah and her husband are concerned. But when it comes to Anwar Ibrahim he says, "The police are the ones who will determine whether the report is true or not. It is not something that we can determine. He will definitely deny it. That is common for someone who has been accused."

Abdullah Badawi has already ‘locked’ the police investigation and this will force the police to arrive at only one verdict. It is now impossible for the police to rule any other way other than declaring that the Statutory Declaration is false. That would be the only way to save the Prime Minister’s face and insulate him from controversy, or worse, from criminal charges.

Saiful in blue reported to police sodomised by DSAI
Have no fear, Malaysia Today is here, and once we get our hands on the evidence we will certainly reveal it to prove that the Inspector General of Police and Attorney-General conspired to fabricate evidence in Anwar Ibrahim’s 1998-1999 trials -- unless they get Anwar or me first of course. Anyway, if anything happens to Anwar or me then you will know why we were silenced. But the evidence will definitely not be silenced. It will still surface, with or without Anwar or me. And let the conspirators beware because they will have to face the wrath of the people. . . read it all

Malaysia: Double injustice heaped on Anwar Ibrahim

Amnesty International considers him to be a prisoner of conscience, detained because of his dissenting political activities and the challenge he posed to government leaders. His co-accused, Sukam Darmawan Sasmitaat Madja, Anwar Ibrahim’s adopted brother, is also appealing against his conviction on the same charges. . . more

The Malaysian (people) representing Anwar - The trial of democracy

We began building a solid foundation for the democracy we want for our young on March 8th. That was a journey we embarked upon for ourselves, our nation, our future.

It was not about Anwar Ibrahim.

That does not mean that we do not support the cause of justice. He is entitled to the full protection of the law. He is entitled to a fair and comprehensive investigation, if one is required at all. He is entitled to a fair prosecution and, above all, he is entitled to a fair trial, if there is one.

In all of all that and more, he deserves our full support. But, fearing the worst, are we going to stop what we started if Anwar Ibrahim is taken down?

If Anwar, Round 2 has been brought on for political purpose, then let us show those who are pulling the strings, that race politics do not matter to us anymore.

Let them hear us, loud and clear: We are Malaysians, and only justice matters. . . . more
